Gurgaon: Residents of Emerald Floors Premier in Sector 65 have urged DTCP, MCG and police to act against illegal parking, encroachments and deteriorating law and order conditions on the 24-metre road adjoining the society.RWA alleged that vehicles visiting the nearby Worldmark shopping mall block the society’s entry and exit gates, causing severe traffic congestion, especially on weekends. They said the situation worsens on weekends and public holidays when the influx of visitors increases significantly, making it difficult for residents to access or leave the society.Residents also claimed that unauthorised scrap shops, dhabas and car garages have encroached on the road, creating safety hazards and narrowing the carriageway. It sought removal of encroachments, strict enforcement against illegal parking, deployment of traffic cops and regular inspections.They added that fire incidents had occurred in the vicinity in the past, raising concerns about unauthorised commercial activities near residential complexes.Residents alleged that antisocial elements near these establishments have worsened the situation, with women, senior citizens and girls reporting incidents of harassment near the society’s entrance.Highlighting the potential consequences of continued inaction, RWA said the encroachments and illegal parking could obstruct the movement of ambulances and fire tenders during emergencies, besides increasing the risk of accidents and compromising public safety.Residents also sought removal of all illegal encroachments and unauthorised commercial establishments from the road, strict enforcement against illegal parking, deployment of traffic personnel during peak hours and weekends, installation of appropriate no-parking signage and barricades, and periodic inspections to prevent fresh violations.District town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said complaints regarding illegal encroachments are examined as per the provisions of the law. “If any unauthorised structures are found during inspection, necessary action will be taken in accordance with the applicable rules,” he said.
