Kanpur: Black marketing of domestic LPG cylinders was exposed in the city after a team of Supply department busted an illegal gas refilling operation in Keshav Nagar area and detained a person from the spot.On Monday, a team from the Supply department led by Amarjeet Singh Vaishya conducted a raid at a tin-shed room near Nakshatra Diagnostic Centre. During the search, officials recovered three domestic gas cylinders, a small cylinder, gas refilling equipment and 76 cylinder caps.
Officials said that two of the large cylinders were found full while one was half-filled, whereas the small cylinder was empty.The person present at the spot was identified as Suraj Yadav, a hawker associated with a gas agency. According to officials, he was allegedly extracting gas from domestic cylinders and selling it at inflated prices.Regional Food Officer Vaishya said that a written complaint had been lodged at the police station, after which an FIR was registered against Suraj Yadav. Officials said further investigation into the matter is underway.
