QS MBA Rankings 2027: 19 Indian B-schools make global list, five enter for the first time
New Delhi: Nineteen Indian business schools feature in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027, with five institutions making their debut in the latest edition as Indian management education expands its representation in the global table.
IIM Bangalore’s Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) is the highest-ranked Indian programme in the Global MBA ranking at 64th globally, followed by IIM Ahmedabad at 70th and IIM Calcutta at 95th. O.P. Jindal Global University is the highest-ranked new Indian entrant, placed in the 171–180 band.
The QS rankings assess MBA programmes across employability, return on investment, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity. The methodology gives the highest weight to employability at 40%, followed by return on investment at 20%, alumni outcomes and thought leadership at 15% each, and diversity at 10%.
Strong employability scores for leading Indian programmes
The leading Indian entries record particularly strong scores on employability. IIM Bangalore’s EPGP has an employability score of 78.3, followed by IIM Ahmedabad at 72.8 and IIM Calcutta at 71.5. Their respective thought leadership scores are 71.5, 67.5 and 65.2.
On return on investment, IIM Ahmedabad records the highest score among the three at 60.5, followed by IIM Bangalore at 57.4 and IIM Calcutta at 53.3.
The three institutions score 59.1, 48.4 and 46.7 respectively on entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes.
IIM Bangalore ranks 29th globally on employability, while IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta rank 35th and 39th respectively on the indicator.
The indicator-level results provide a more detailed picture than the overall ranking alone, particularly because the QS Global MBA table represents specific MBA programmes rather than an aggregate ranking of every management programme offered by an institution.
IIM Bangalore features across QS categories
IIM Bangalore’s results extend beyond the Global MBA ranking. According to the institute, three of its programmes secured the No. 1 position in India in their respective QS categories for 2027.
Its two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) ranked 31st globally in the QS Master’s in Management rankings, with an overall score of 72.7. The programme recorded a score of 83.6 on employer reputation and employment rate and 83.1 on thought leadership.
Its Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA) ranked 60th globally in the QS Master’s in Business Analytics rankings, with an overall score of 60.3. Its employer reputation score was 84.8, placing it 16th globally on that indicator.
In the Global MBA ranking, IIM Bangalore’s EPGP ranked 64th globally and eighth in Asia-Pacific. The one-year MBA for experienced professionals recorded an employability score of 78.3, the highest among Indian programmes in the ranking, and a thought leadership score of 71.5.
The distinction is significant: IIM Bangalore’s 64th position in the QS Global MBA ranking refers to its EPGP, while its two-year PGP is ranked separately in the Master’s in Management table.
Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, director-in-charge, IIM Bangalore, said the PGP’s performance reflected the strength of an education combining applied business learning, evidence-led teaching and industry engagement.
