Lucknow: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow on Monday welcomed the inaugural batch of its four-year bachelor of science (BS) in artificial intelligence and business analytics programme, marking the institute’s entry into undergraduate education in emerging technology and management fields.The programme was launched during the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026, held as part of the India AI impact summit 2026 and is aimed at equipping students with cutting-edge skills in artificial intelligence, analytics, technology and business management.Speaking at the induction ceremony, principal secretary, IT & electronics, planning & programme implementation, GoUP Alok Kumar said the growing relevance of artificial intelligence will make such programmes increasingly sought after in the coming years. Addressing the students, IIML director Prof MP Gupta said the programme has been designed to contribute to India’s growth by integrating technology, artificial intelligence and management education.Dean (programmes), IIML, Prof Sanjay K Singh encouraged students to use AI responsibly while maintaining independent thinking. Chairperson, BS (AI & BA), Prof Suresh Kumar Jakhar highlighted the unique distinction of being the institutes first undergraduate AI batch.A key feature of the programme is the option to pursue a Tech MBA after the third year, enabling students to earn a dual degree. The programme is focused on developing future-ready professionals capable of contributing to India’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem and the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, said IIML in a press release.
