Bengaluru: In a remarkable feat, Ashok Kumar S, a life convict lodged at Ballari Central Prison, secured 481 out of 600 marks in the Second Pre-University (PU) examination, translating to 80.1%.Ashok appeared for the exams under prison escort and took up the arts stream, with subjects including history, economics, sociology, political science, along with English and Kannada. His performance stands out as an example of perseverance despite incarceration.Posting on X, Director General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services) Alok Kumar lauded the achievement. “It’s heartening to see that one of our life convict prisoners, Ashok, has obtained 80.1% marks in PUC exam. He appeared under prison escort from Ballari Central Prison for his exams. Glad to see that walls of the prison have not subdued his hopes for a better future,” he said.
