Mangaluru: The II PU examination commenced smoothly in Dakshina Kannada (DK) on Saturday. On the first day, students appeared for Kannada and Arabic exams. Elaborate arrangements were made across 59 centres in the district for candidates. No malpractices were reported.A total of 21,661 candidates registered for Kannada, out of which 21,498 students appeared, and 163 were absent. For the Arabic subject, 315 registered, and two of them remained absent.

Officials said that elaborate arrangements were made across all centres in the district. The students came to the centre an hour in advance, along with their parents and guardians. “We did not report any inconvenience in any of the centres. Also, there was no report of malpractice. The dedicated exam officials made sure that the exam started off smoothly,” said officials, adding that even at new exam centres, no complaints were received.On Monday, geography, statistics, and psychology exams will be held.For the II PU examination, 37,337 students registered in DK, including 18,401 regular students. During the exam, webcasting has been arranged, 13 observers were appointed, and all centres are equipped with CCTV cameras..
