Anantnag, September 3: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar-IPS, on Thursday visited Anantnag district and reviewed the prevailing security situation, crime scenario and policing arrangements in the district.

A comprehensive review meeting was held at the District Police Office, Anantnag, in which DIG South Kashmir Range Javid Iqbal Matoo-IPS, SSP Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS and other senior police officers participated.

During the meeting, the IGP took a detailed assessment of the overall security arrangements and reviewed key aspects of policing, including crime prevention, investigation of cases, law-and-order preparedness and ongoing police operations.

Senior officers briefed the IGP on the prevailing security scenario in the district and apprised him of measures being undertaken to strengthen public safety and improve policing mechanisms.

Sujit Kumar directed the officers to further strengthen the security grid and ensure effective coordination among different field formations. He stressed the need for prompt and professional action against criminal and anti-social elements while laying emphasis on strengthening preventive policing.

The IGP also called for heightened vigilance and continuous assessment of emerging security challenges. He underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among various police formations to maintain peace, security and public order across the district.

The meeting concluded with directions to senior officers to remain proactive in addressing security concerns, strengthen crime-prevention mechanisms and ensure efficient and responsive policing for the safety and security of the public.
