Hazaribag: Bokaro Range Inspector General (IG) Shailendra Kumar Sinha on Wednesday directed police officers to intensify action against organised crime and narcotics trafficking, announcing a special drive to identify and attach movable and immovable properties acquired through the illegal opium trade.Reviewing law and order, organised crime, left-wing extremism and pending cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at a meeting in Chatra district, Sinha asked officers to ensure speedy disposal of investigations.He lauded Chatra police for recent action against illegal opium cultivation and drug trafficking but said arrests alone would not be sufficient to curb the menace. “The entire network behind the illegal trade must be dismantled,” Sinha said.He said police would invoke legal provisions to seize assets generated through narcotics trafficking with the objective of weakening the financial backbone of organised criminal groups.Sinha also instructed officers to expedite the execution of warrants, arrest absconders, improve intelligence gathering and increase patrolling in sensitive areas.
