Itanagar: A delegation of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) trainees visited Indian Army installations at Likabali, Aalo, and forward locations at Mechuka, to gain first-hand understanding of ground realities in remote frontier areas and the operational role of the Army in safeguarding national borders, an official report said, reports Joken Ete.The visit from March 2 to 7 aimed to familiarise the trainee diplomats with the security environment in the sector and the factors that shape sustained border management, Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said.
During the visit, the trainees were taken to key installations and forward areas, where they were briefed on the operational environment, logistics management, and the challenges of maintaining an effective military presence in high altitude and difficult terrain.The trainees observed the level of preparedness and operational capabilities maintained by troops deployed in the region under demanding climatic conditions, the official said.The delegation also interacted with commanders and senior officers, who highlighted the strategic significance of the sector, operational posture, and the coordination required between military preparedness and diplomatic engagement.The official said the trainees praised the dedication, professionalism, and resilience of soldiers serving in remote locations.The visit reinforced the importance of synergy between diplomacy and defence in securing national interests and maintaining peace and stability along the borders, Lt Col Rawat added.
