Nagpur: Recognising the relentless efforts of educators who continue to shape generations, The Times of India and Maharashtra Times have organised the ‘Icons of Education 2026′ ceremony, which will be held today at 5 pm at Hotel Airport Centre Point on Wardha Road. The event aims to celebrate teachers, principals, academicians and institutions that have made noteworthy contributions to the field of education through innovation, leadership and commitment to academic excellence. The ceremony is expected to bring together prominent personalities from education sector, along with representatives from schools, colleges and professional institutes across the region. In Indian tradition, the role of a Guru has always held immense significance. Beyond textbooks and classrooms, teachers play a defining role in shaping the character, confidence and future of students. From introducing children to the world of learning to guiding them through higher education and life’s challenges, educators remain the backbone of society. The ceremony seeks to acknowledge and honour such inspiring contributions. State Revenue minister and Nagpur district Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule will grace the occasion as chief guest and felicitate awardees. Dr Manali Kshirsagar, vice chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, and Teachers’ Constituency MLC Sudhakar Adbale are expected to attend the programme as distinguished guests of honour. The event is being presented with the National Commodity Supply Corporation of India as the Principal Sponsor and is powered by Raisoni Education. Supporting partners include Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Priyadarshini Group of Institutions under Lokmanya Tilak Jankalyan Shikshan Sanstha, Anjuman College of Engineering and Technology of the Anjuman Hami-e-Islam Educational Group, and Ironik Suzuki.
