Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Examination (CHSE) has put in place a foolproof security system for the Annual Higher Secondary Examination (AHSE)-2026, scheduled to start in the state on Wednesday.Over 4 lakh students will write the examination, both in regular and ex-regular categories, and on Wednesday, students of the science stream will appear for their Modern Indian Language paper.Controller of examinations (CHSE) Prashant Kumar Parida said a five-tier security arrangement was deployed to cover examination centres and exam management hubs (where question papers are stored) to check any irregularities in the examination process and during despatch and receipt of question papers. “This five-tier security system was set up at the college-level, which was designated as exam centres, examination management hub-level, district-level, zonal-level and central-level,” he said.Every district will have a six-member squad which will supervise the examination process. Besides, there will be five exam observers at every centre to prevent any malpractice. All the examination halls were brought under AI-based CCTV coverage, and exams will be live-streamed and monitored centrally from the control room at the CHSE head office in Bhubaneswar. AI cameras were also installed at 221 exam management hubs. This year, question papers were sent to the EMHs through vehicles with GPS tracking systems. While the exam duration every day is three hours, a student will be allowed to take a toilet break only once during this period, and if this break exceeds 2 minutes, the invigilator will note it down. Subsequently, the student will undergo body frisking again to re-enter the exam hall. While the examination will continue until March 28, Parida informed that the evaluation of papers will tentatively begin on April 2. The evaluation will continue for a month, and the results are likely to be declared in mid-May, he added.Earlier, the internal assessment for AHSE was done in two phases, from Dec 22 to 31 in the first phase and Jan 10 to 15 in the second phase.
