Gurgaon: A 35-year-old man died, a day after an unidentified vehicle hit him at Rajiv Chowk while he was returning from Delhi.Bystanders and locals rushed Ashish Kumar Pandey to Medanta Hospital on Saturday night, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day. Pandey was employed with Rodik Consultant Private Limited in the human resources department at its Delhi office.On Monday, Pandey’s wife approached the Naharpur police outpost and submitted a written complaint. Pandey, who hailed from UP’s Pratapgarh, lived at a rented accommodation with his wife and two-year-old son in Sector 11’s Shanti Nagar locality. The complaint said the vehicle approached at high speed and struck her husband while he was crossing the road. The impact caused him to fall, leaving him with severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body.“Based on the complaint and the medical documents, we registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS at Sadar police station,” a police officer said, adding, “We are examining CCTV footage from the Rajiv Chowk area and nearby roads to trace the driver who fled the spot after the collision.” A friend, Amit, said, “On March 8, he went to Delhi for some work. He went to Uttam Nagar to give the token amount for a flat that he was going to purchase.”
