Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Saturday flagged filthy toilets at a government school in his native village of Santuk Pimpri in Hingoli district of Maharashtra.
Sharing a video of the toilets, Dipke asked, “How is any kid supposed to use this toilet? #SchoolThikKaro”. In the video, pieces of garbage can be seen collected inside the toilets with dirt around them.
The CJP convenor was in his native village in Hingoli to launch the ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, and attended the flag hoisting ceremony at the government school there on the occasion of Independence Day.
Dipke’s shares first audit of govt school: ‘No benches, no water’
Apart from the toilets, Dipke also posted a video of audit conducted by his team at the government school, wherein he was also seen interacting with young girls and seeking their feedback on the school amenities. The CJP, based on their feedback, listed the poor water supply, lack of drinking water, benches, dirty washrooms and broken windows as some of the issues troubling the students.
He said he had spoken to the Sarpanch of the village, and said he had received assurance that the Panchayat would resolve all such issues pertaining to the students. “Even after 80 years of Independence, our govt schools still lack basic amenities,” Dipke said alongside the video. “Change is possible when we come together and act,” he added.
The CJP convenor also flagged the lack of water supply in the toilets at the Zilla Parishad school. “If basic things like water are missing from government-run schools even 80 years after India became independent, how is the country going to develop?” he told reporters, according to PTI news agency.
CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo campaign
The CJP launched its ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, spearheading the demand for reforms in government schools, as India marks its 80th Independence Day.
Urging the people to begin asking questions, Dipke said, “People have now understood that they should talk about education, which is the need of the hour. No matter which political party ruled, nobody worked for government schools in states. Now there is a need, and we can make them work by asking questions.”
Dipke criticised political parties, accusing them of not doing enough to improve the conditions of the government-run schools. He alleged that governments, irrespective of who was in power, have neglected the schools. He said the CJP had come up with a list of basic amenities which should be available in a school.
“We will gather the data from schools located in Maharashtra and nationwide. Then we will compile the data,” he said, according to PTI.
