handigarh: The house-to-house enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls began across Punjab on Thursday, with 24,453 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) fanning out to verify the details of over 2.14 crore electors. The month-long exercise, scheduled to continue till July 24, will see BLOs visit every household in the state to distribute and collect enumeration forms as part of the Election Commission of India’s revision of electoral rolls.Chief electoral officer Anindita Mitra urged voters to cooperate with BLOs by keeping a recent colour photograph ready, filling and signing the enumeration form, and handing it over during the visit. She said BLOs would make up to three visits if a house was found locked. If the voter was unavailable, an adult family member could sign and submit the form.Mitra also said electors could submit the forms online through the ECINet mobile app or the Voters’ Service Portal, subject to verification by the BLO. The ECINet app also offers a “Book a Call with your BLO” facility to help voters connect directly with the designated officer. The rationalisation of polling stations will continue till July 24. Draft electoral rolls will be published on Aug 3, while claims and objections can be filed till Sept 2. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on Oct 1.
