Shillong: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has begun across Meghalaya with booth level officers (BLOs) conducting house-to-house visits to distribute enumeration forms (EFs) and verify electoral details.“A total of 3,551 trained BLOs have been deployed across the state. In addition, 60 electoral registration officers (EROs), 166 assistant electoral registration officers, and 410 BLO supervisors have been appointed and trained to oversee and facilitate the SIR process across Meghalaya,” chief electoral officer (CEO) BDR Tiwari said on Wednesday.On the first day of the campaign, 119,129 enumeration forms were distributed, covering 5.07% of the electorate, the CEO said.Among the districts, South West Garo Hills recorded the highest coverage, with 20.49% of enumeration forms distributed, followed by North Garo Hills (10.25%), South Garo Hills (6.67%), and West Garo Hills (6.5%). East Khasi Hills, the district with the largest electorate, distributed 28,006 enumeration forms, accounting for 4.43% of its electors as on Wednesday.The house-to-house verification and distribution of enumeration forms will continue up to July 29.
