NAGPUR: Horror unfolded before cops after they zeroed in on the hellhole flat in Nagpur’s Dighori, where the 16-year-old girl, a Class 12 student and daughter of a top govt official, was kept hostage and brutalised for 24 hours.The accused, a 19-year-old Thane youth, who’s now in police custody, was sexually assaulting the teen while sticking a surgical knife on her neck, said ASI Deepak More, who glanced inside the room by moving the green net on the ground-floor flat window.When he signalled to his team to storm the flat, cops found the girl with at least 20 deep cuts and bite marks on her body, including her wrist and private parts and wounds caused by whipping with a metal-studded leather belt.She was bleeding profusely and barely conscious when police wheeled her out to the govt-run hospital late Monday. Doctors at GMCH said on Wednesday, she was in acute trauma, but recuperating.
Initially, the police team was concerned that any knee-jerk move could endanger the girl as the captor was holding the knife close to her neck. So, the team split. One group created a distraction by making noise and knocked at the front door, drawing the accused’s attention. Simultaneously, cops waiting at the rear forced open the back door and entered the flat.Senior Inspector Anamika Mirzapure of Hudkeshwar police station and DCP Rashmitha Rao arrived at the location and forensic teams were summoned to quickly collate evidence and digital footprints.A dedicated cyber cell team is currently extracting data from seized devices to reconstruct the blackmail trail and identify any third-party involvement in the circulation of explicit sex videos. API Dandawate, ASI More along with constables Wani and Waghmare had provided location leads that helped narrow the search to the Dighori flat.
