Dhubri: Residents and organisations of lower Assam districts have rallied to send truckloads of relief to flood-ravaged districts in upper Assam.The Bongaigaon District Social Service Association, led by social worker Prabin Kumar Baishya, dispatched rice, pulses, edible oil, drinking water, biscuits, baby food, clothes, sanitary items and other essentials to some of the worst-hit areas.“Natural disasters know no boundaries. When our brothers and sisters in upper Assam are suffering, it is our moral responsibility to stand beside them. We appeal to more people and organisations to come forward and support the flood victims in whatever way they can,” Baishya said.Mithun Paul, head of the AGP Linguistic Minority Cell in Bilasipara, also sent a truckload of food, clothes and other essentials collected through public contributions.“Our objective is to ensure that relief reaches those who need it the most. The people of Assam have always stood together during times of crisis, and this is another example of our shared humanity,” Paul said.In Dhubri, social worker Simul Sarkar organised a community collection drive with support from residents, traders and well-wishers. He later left for Sivasagar to distribute the supplies among affected families.Residents and volunteers said the initiatives reflected Assam’s spirit of solidarity and urged more people and organisations to support flood victims.
