Hyderabad: AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Tuesday expressed hope that leader of the opposition, K Chandrasekhar Rao, who earlier served as the chief minister for nearly 10 years, will apologise on behalf of BRS MLC T Madhusudhan to not only speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and his mother, but all the mothers in Telangana, for the alleged abusive comments made by his party lawmaker.Speaking in the assembly over alleged comments made by BRS MLC T Madhusudhan, Owaisi said AIMIM condemns the derogatory language used by the MLC and that it was unfortunate that he did not seek an apology but instead said he was withdrawing his words against the speaker.“There is no shame in seeking an apology. No one will lose respect by apologising. KCR had served as the chief minister for nearly 10 years and also as deputy speaker in the past. I hope he apologises on behalf of BRS and his party MLC so that the issue gets a closure,” Akbaruddin Owaisi said.On the occasion, the AIMIM floor leader himself offered apologies to all those who were hurt by his words or comments. Though he did not specify any incident of his statement possibly hurting anyone, he said: “To err is human. You may have said it in an emotional rage or anger. But once you cool down, you realise your mistake and feel the urge to apologise. I have apologised to many people in my life.”Then, Owaisi read out the rule position and said the members could be suspended, but not expelled in the latest case and said a resolution should be sent to the council chairman for the purpose.Akbaruddin Owaisi also sought an inquiry into the allegations of BRS woman MLAs being mistreated by police during their agitation on Monday. “Women are an honour of our state. Even the Telugu Talli is a woman. The speaker has assured action will be taken after examining the videos,” he added.However, he indirectly found fault with the BRS MLAs for resisting and confronting police, which resulted in all incidents. “To stage a protest or dharna is a democratic right. But when police want to take you away, let them do their duty and go with them. One should protect their self-respect by doing so,” he said.He wanted the Madhusudhan issue to be closed and said there were more pressing issues like fee reimbursement, revenue and 22 A category land parcels, minority welfare, farmers against the backdrop of El Nino, Arogyasri, Pay Revision Commission and issues being faced by govt employees and pensioners in the state, that need to be discussed in the remainder monsoon session of the assembly.
