Nagpur: Ambazari police uncovered an illegal hookah parlour operating inside a restaurant located at Bhagwati Heights in Ram Nagar, following a raid on Friday night. Cases have been registered against five individuals, including the owner.Those named in the FIR are Brijesh Pal (35), a resident of WCL Colony; Prakash Khadka (28), a resident of New Colony; Sujal Mendhe (21), a resident of Ambazari Tekdi; Uday Yadav (23), a resident of Godhni; and Suraj Gajbhiyye (23), a resident of Ambazari Tekdi.The action was taken under the guidance of DCP Nityanand Jha. Senior police inspector Vinod Godbole, PSI Rajesh Lohi, head constables Baljit Thakur and Kamlesh Naneer, along with constable Pravin Lokhande, were patrolling the area when they received information that hookah was being served to customers at the establishment.Upon raiding the premises, police found customers consuming hookah. Officers subsequently registered offences against the five accused and seized prohibited tobacco products and hookah equipment.Police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal hookah parlours functioning under the guise of cafés and restaurants in the city.
