Rourkela: Anjana Majhi, a home guard, seen administering CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a road accident victim in Rourkela, was felicitated by Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani on Saturday for her prompt response and efforts to save a life. Despite her efforts, the victim, later identified as 37-year-old security guard Ishwar Oram, succumbed to his injuries.Police said Oram, a resident of Sector-6, was riding his motorcycle to work at around 10.15am when a speeding car rammed into him near the mall, throwing him onto the road. The car reportedly climbed onto a divider after the collision, while its driver fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle.Acting on information received through the police control room, a PCR team rushed to the accident site. On finding Oram unconscious and unresponsive, Majhi immediately began CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while awaiting medical assistance. He was later shifted by ambulance to Rourkela Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.A video of Majhi’s rescue attempt went viral on social media, drawing widespread appreciation for her presence of mind and humanitarian gesture.Felicitating her at his office on Saturday, SP Wadhwani praised her commitment to duty and efforts to help the victim.
