T’puram: Three persons, including a woman earlier arrested in a honey-trap case, were taken into custody from a meditation centre in Alappuzha for allegedly intoxicating, assaulting and robbing a 68-year-old ex-serviceman at Pothencode.Police identified the accused as Deepa (44) of Neyyattinkara, her son Akhil (25), and their associate Prakashan (42). The incident occurred in Chanthavila on Sunday. The complainant, Vidhu of Anayara, told police that Deepa, known to him for eight months, came to his newly bought house with the two men claiming they wanted to see the property.The trio allegedly made him consume excessive liquor, assaulted him after he became intoxicated, and escaped with a gold chain, bracelet, three rings, Rs 8,000, a mobile phone and documents. Vidhu suffered a forehead injury. Police traced the accused through tower data after one phone was briefly switched on. They were detained with Mannanchery police’s help.Police said Deepa had previously been arrested in a honey-trap case.
