Ropar: Special DGP (law and order) Arpit Shukla on Thursday reviewed security preparations at Anandpur Sahib ahead of the three-day Hola Mohalla festival, scheduled from March 2 to 4, and directed police officials to ensure foolproof arrangements as per chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s instructions.Chairing a coordination meeting with DIG Ropar Range Nanak Singh and SSP Ropar Maninder Singh, the special DGP said lakhs of devotees from across the world are expected to arrive at the birthplace of the Khalsa Panth. The festival zone has been divided into 12 sectors, with nearly 5,000 police personnel deployed. Six drones will provide aerial surveillance, with live feeds monitored at the central control room.

Briefing sector in-charges, Shukla instructed the force to maintain a humble and service-oriented approach towards the sangat. He said several new initiatives have been introduced to ensure a smooth festival experience. These include 21 designated parking areas with a colour-coded route plan and round-the-clock shuttle services—comprising 100 e-rickshaws and 50 mini-buses — from parking sites to key locations.QR-code information points have been set up to guide visitors on routes, shuttles, parking, hospitals and other facilities. Around 200 CCTV cameras, including PTZ and ANPR units, have been installed across approach roads, supplemented by 24×7 monitoring at Anandpur Sahib police station. For the first time, a three-layer barricading system will manage crowds at Charan Ganga Stadium.
