Hoax call to Indigo flight at KIA

Bengaluru: A handwritten note found tucked inside an aircraft’s lavatory triggered a major security scare and a five-hour delay for passengers aboard an Ahmedabad-bound IndiGo flight at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Thursday night. The incident unfolded aboard flight 6E-6423, which was scheduled to depart for Ahmedabad at 8pm. Around 7.35pm, just 25 minutes before take-off, a crew member discovered a piece of paper in the forward lavatory with a handwritten message: “Don’t go. Bomb Hai! Please.” Upon the discovery, the cabin crew immediately alerted airport authorities, triggering standard safety protocols. The plane was moved to an isolated bay, and the passengers and crew were evacuated. Security agencies, bomb squads and sniffer dogs conducted an exhaustive scan of the entire aircraft, luggage and passenger hand baggage.Following a thorough check lasting over two hours, no explosives or suspicious items were found, and the threat was officially declared a “non-specific” hoax. The intense security sweep caused significant inconvenience to passengers. Originally scheduled to depart at 8pm, the flight was finally cleared and took off for Ahmedabad at 1.20am Friday — a delay of more than five hours.
