Surat: Panic spread on Tuesday morning after GD Goenka and Lancers Army School in Surat received bomb threat emails, prompting emergency evacuations and swift action by police and bomb disposal squads. Fortunately, no explosives or suspicious items were found on either campus.According to deputy commissioner of police (Zone-4) Vijay Singh Gurjar, the threat was part of a larger wave of hoax emails sent to 160 schools and establishments across Gujarat and India. “Both schools received the threatening email at 12:59am, warning of a ‘blood bath’. Teams from Vesu and Umra police stations responded immediately and coordinated evacuations. Bomb disposal squads were also deployed but found nothing suspicious,” Gurjar said. The city’s cybercrime cell is now investigating the origin of the email to trace the sender. This isn’t the first time Surat has faced such threats. In April and Aug last year, VR Mall was targeted with similar bomb threat emails. A local hotel also received a threat email last year.
