Prayagraj: A history sheeter carrying Rs 25,000 cash reward was injured and arrested after an encounter in Fatehpur on Friday, police said.The police recovered a country-made pistol of 0.315 bore along with one unused and one used cartridges from Amit Kumar alias Teni (30).He was admitted to the hospital in Fatehpur for treatment. Police said a team of Jafarganj police were conducting routine checks near Rusiya road when they noticed a suspicious man walking.When cops signalled him to stop, he made a futile attempt to escape and moved towards a field. However, when the police team surrounded him, he opened fire. The cops retaliated, resulting in injury to his left leg.Police said Teni, a resident of Digharuwa village in Pratapgarh, has 16 criminal cases pending against him in Kanpur Nagar and Fatehpur.
