Chennai: A 24-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death near a burial ground in Kelambakkam. His body was found around 7am on Sunday with multiple cut injuries on his face and head. Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder.The deceased was identified as Sahul Hameed, son of Ansar Ali, a resident of Anna Nagar in Kelambakkam. He was recorded as a history-sheeter at Kelambakkam police station.Police said Sahul Hameed left home around 9.15 pm on Saturday after taking ₹1,000 from a family member and went out to drink liquor. Investigation revealed that he was killed the same night owing to previous enmity. Police identified five suspects who were seen with the victim the previous night.Four of them — Arun, 31, of Thaiyur; Surya, 32, of Egattur; Srikanth, 35, of Thaiyur; and Abdul Rahman, 25, of Kelambakkam — were arrested. Two special teams have been formed to trace the remaining suspect, Ajay.Police said Sahul Hameed was involved in a murder case in 2020. He was released on bail on Aug 27 in connection with another case.His body was sent to Chengalpet Government Hospital for postmortem.Kelambakkam police registered a case, and further investigation is underway. Police sources said there was a dispute brewing between Sahul Hameed and another gang over establishing supremacy in the locality.
