Hisar: In a significant show of defiance against the directives issued by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana (BCPH), advocates of the Hisar Bar Association went ahead with the previously announced elections on Friday, recording an impressive voter turnout of more than 75%. Senior advocate Pradeep Bajia was elected president, while Sameer Sihag emerged victorious in the race for secretary.According to the results declared late Friday evening, 2,088 of the association’s 2,763 eligible voters exercised their franchise. The high turnout reflected strong participation by members despite the controversy surrounding the election process. In the presidential contest, Pradeep Bajia secured 1,066 votes to defeat Mohit Arora by a margin of 103 votes. Mohit Arora polled 963 votes, while Om Narayan Kaushik received 54 votes. Five advocates opted for the Nota (None of the Above) option.For the post of secretary, Sameer Sihag registered a decisive victory by securing 1,161 votes. He defeated Rajbir Singh Bhati by a margin of 545 votes. Rajbir Singh Bhati received 616 votes, Mohit Choudhary secured 220 votes, and Ramniwas Choudhary Payal polled 61 votes. Twenty advocates voted for Nota.In the vice-president election, Rahul Singh won with 948 votes, defeating Swata Sharma by 443 votes. Ashwini Kumar Aryan secured 364 votes, while Bhagirath Singh Ladoiya received 226 votes. Thirty-four votes were cast in favour of Nota. For the post of joint secretary, Sahil Mandrena emerged victorious after polling 760 votes, defeating Karn Chhabra by 87 votes. In the treasurer’s contest, Asha Rani Balyan won by a margin of 116 votes. She defeated Garima Jain, who secured 909 votes. The newly elected office-bearers will be administered the oath of office and secrecy on Saturday, June 13. The election results were followed by celebrations across the court complex, with supporters carrying the newly elected president and secretary on their shoulders and raising slogans in their support.
