Mangaluru: Sangeet Bharati Foundation, Mangaluru, will organise ‘Bank of Maharashtra Rimjhim ’, a grand evening of Hindustani classical music featuring captivating sitar and vocal performances on Sunday at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall. The entry to the event is free. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Narendra L Nayak, vice-president of Sangeet Bharati Foundation, said that the programme will bring together some of India’s finest Hindustani classical musicians, promising an unforgettable musical experience. The evening will commence with a sitar recital by Sanjeev Korti (Bengaluru), followed by a Hindustani classical vocal concert by Pt Shashank Makthedar (Goa). They will be accompanied by Mayank Bedekar (Goa) on tabla and Guruprasad Hegde (Sirsi) on harmonium. The concert is the first in a series of classical music programmes planned by the foundation for the year to promote and preserve India’s rich classical music heritage, he said. The title sponsor for the event is Bank of Maharashtra. The Associate Sponsor is Century Group, led by its chairman P Dayanand Pai, Bengaluru; Canara Bank, Karnataka Bank, Union Bank of India, Shri Nidhi Builders, Expert Group of Institutions, Mangaluru, with Mudra Printers as the printing partner.
