Shimla: Police have registered a case against Vijay Singh, an assistant professor at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, after his academic certificates were allegedly found to be fake.
The issue came to light when the university conducted routine verification of documents submitted during his appointment. According to HPU registrar Gyan Singh Sagar’s complaint, the accused was appointed to the public administration department based on an appointment letter dated Sept 28, 2024.
During verification on Feb 18, 2025, the school education board confirmed that the school-level certificates he submitted were forged and not in their records. Following an internal investigation, the university filed a complaint with Boileauganj police station, and an FIR was registered.
