Shimla: Himachal Pradesh health and family welfare minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil (retd), during a World TB Day 2026 function on Tuesday, emphasised the state govt’s commitment to a TB-free India, launching the 100-day TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (2.0).The minister highlighted that the hill state had stabilised TB cases, now showing a consistent decline. The first phase of the campaign, launched in Dec 2024, achieved 100% of its target by screening nearly 14.9 lakh vulnerable individuals, with 46% undergoing X-ray screening – the highest nationwide. The TB-Mukt Gram Panchayat initiative also succeeded, declaring 1,052 panchayats TB-free by 2025, with several awarded silver and gold recognition.The 2.0 campaign will cover 5,176 high-risk villages and urban wards, targeting chronic patients and slum residents through AI-based handheld X-rays, mobile units, and Ayushman Arogya camps, with active participation from MPs, MLAs, and PRI representatives, said the minister.The health minister also encouraged youth to adopt the mantra “Eat Well, Live Well, Think Well” for a disease-resistant lifestyle.MSID:: 129779101 413 |
