Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu celebrated his 62nd birthday on Thursday with a series of welfare and public outreach initiatives, while reiterating his govt’s commitment to fiscal discipline and social security.At his official residence, Oak Over, Sukhu received greetings from party workers, cabinet colleagues, officials and members of the public. He also planted a Chinar sapling. His wife and Dehra MLA Kamlesh Thakur and other family members were present.Earlier in the day, Sukhu flagged off a marathon organised by the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat from the Secretariat to the Ridge Church. He said the state budget was people-centric and aimed at public welfare.As part of the celebrations, the chief minister distributed Rs 1 lakh each to 18 women beneficiaries under the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to support house construction.A blood donation camp and a boxing competition were also organised at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex by Youth Congress and state youth units.
