Chandigarh A week after Chandigarh’s ace rally driver Hari Singh (59) and retired Indian Navy Commander Mahesh Ramachandran went missing following a speedboat accident in the Maldives, Hari’s family has announced an ‘antim ardas’ (remembrance prayer) for March 30 to celebrate his life and legacy.Hari, a five-time Indian National Rally Championship winner, and Cdr Mahesh were aboard a speedboat with Gautam Singhania, managing director of the Raymond Group, and four others when it overturned near Felidhoo on the night of March 19. While Singhania and others were rescued, Hari and Cdr Mahesh, an Arjuna awardee in sailing, remained missing. Shashi Pal Singh Garcha, a former national motocross champion, president of the Chandigarh Motorsports Association, and a close friend of Hari, told TOI that search teams have extended their operations by another day.The adventure sports community remains in mourning while recovery efforts continue. The Old Sanawarian Society, the alumni association of Singh’s alma mater, The Lawrence School, Sanawar, expressed profound sorrow over the “untimely demise of the motorsports icon,” offering heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
