Varanasi: Ahead of arrival of chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Jul 29 to visit the temple at the birthplace of Sant Ravidas in Seer Gowardhanpur, Varanasi Municipal Corporation has intensified drive to keep the area clean and free of civic problems.BJP too has also geared up preparations to hold a mega show on the day when Yogi along with party national president Nitin Nabin and state chief Pankaj Chaudhary will launch Ravidas ‘Kalash Yatra’ as a part of the celebration of 650th birth anniversary of 15th century poet saint Sant Ravidas.In view of CM Yogi’s proposed visit, mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari reached Seer Govardhanpur on Saturdayy to launch a mega drive in the vicinity of the temple and major routes connected to it.

A quick response team was formed by VMC for prompt resolution of problems related to cleanliness, drinking water, sewer and street lights. The team will remain active in the area round the clock and will take action on the spot as soon as a complaint is received. Throughout the event’s duration, nigam officials will camp in the area and monitor the arrangements so that devotees get a clean, safe and convenient environment.Tiwari said that during the birth anniversary celebration, lakhs of devotees are likely to reach Seer Govardhanpur from India and abroad, so nagar nigam and administration intensified preparations.In order to make the proposed ‘Kalash Yatra’, its Dalit outreach bid, a grand show, BJP held a series of meetings. At the meeting in circuit house on Friday evening, BJP formed 17 teams and entrusted responsibilities to experienced workers. Former state vice-president Trayambak Tripathi said Sant Ravidas had given the message of equality, harmony and ending discrimination. Ashok Chaurasiya appealed to the workers to devote themselves to making the programmes of Jul 28 and 29 successful. In the meeting, preparations for the decoration of the venue, routes, intersections and temple premises, as well as for sending worshipped Kalash to 27 states, were discussed.The Kalash Yatra will begin from Varanasi on Jul 29 and representatives from 27 states will participate. Events such as Kalash Pujan, Kalash Yatra, Jansampark and Jansabha are proposed and to give final shape to the preparations, a meeting of BJP workers was held at Circuit House on Friday, chaired by Kashi Kshetra president Ashok Chaurasiya.
