Gurgaon: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain warning for the city as an active monsoon spell is expected to persist across Haryana over the next four days, with thunderstorms, lightning and heavy showers likely at isolated places in the district till July 23. According to the IMD’s meteorological centre in Chandigarh, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places across Haryana from Monday to Wednesday, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in the state till July 22. Heavy rainfall is likely to continue at isolated places on July 23 before the intensity of rain gradually reduces. The weather activity is being driven by the monsoon trough passing through the region along with an upper-air cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining areas.For Gurgaon, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, with heavy rainfall likely at isolated locations over the next three days. The warning also extends to neighbouring districts, including Faridabad, Nuh, Palwal, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Jind and Kaithal.The city recorded a minimum temperature of 27.1 degrees Celsius at the IMD’s AWS on Monday morning, 0.4 degrees below the previous day’s reading. No rainfall had been recorded at the station till 8.30am. Other weather stations in the district reported a minimum of 27.9 degrees Celsius at Gurgaon KVK and 29.1 degrees Celsius at NorthCap University. The maximum temperature was 33.8 degrees Celsius, a 2.1 degrees drop from the previous day.The IMD has advised people to remain alert for waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions during periods of intense rain, reduced visibility and lightning during thunderstorms, particularly in districts under the heavy rain warning.
