Chennai: A man and his wife were killed in a road accident that occurred when he suffered a heart attack while driving. Their two minor granddaughters escaped with injuries.Police said Ravichandran, 65, and Geetha, 56, of Balaji Nagar in Veppampattu were on their way to a temple with their two granddaughters, when the accident occurred near a bus stop in Sevvapet. Ravichandran suffered cardiac arrest and lost control of the car, which veered into the opposite late and collided head-on with an MTC bus on the Chennai-Tiruvallur High Road on Saturday.Ravichandran died on the spot while Geetha was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died during treatment. The two children, who were seated in the rear, suffered minor injuries and are being treated.Police said a case was registered under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The bodies were sent to the govt hospital in Tiruvallur for postmortem. Officials of the MTC stated that the bus driver was not at fault. Further investigation is underway.
