Hyderabad: Authorities have indefinitely suspended the headmaster of a zero-enrollment govt school in Suryapet district, citing poor coordination with parents. Suspension orders were served on Thursday.MA Hakeem, headmaster (FAC) of ZPHS, Bandaramaram at Thungathurthy mandal, told TOI that he was being made a scapegoat for the school’s zero enrolment. He said the school lacks teachers, toilets, laboratories and other basic facilities, yet the blame for students not joining the school has been placed solely on him.“Hakeem failed to maintain proper administration, was negligent in his duties, and, based on complaints from villagers and local leaders, used abusive language and lacked coordination with parents and staff, violating CCA rules,” read the proceedings issued by the district educational officer (DEO).The DEO said Hakeem would remain under suspension until disciplinary proceedings are completed.Hakeem, who went to the DEO office on Thursday, questioned why he was suspended more than a month after the start of the new academic year.“They are making me a scapegoat for the school recording zero enrollment. We had only 13 students in classes 6 to 10 last year, and after four completed Class 10. None of the 13 students returned this year. The allegations are baseless. How can I lack coordination with parents or use abusive language when there are no students?” he said.Hakeem said the school lacks basic infrastructure and questioned why teachers were transferred without replacements. “Without teachers, labs or even toilets, how are we expected to attract new admissions? Why is the headmaster alone being held responsible for zero enrolment?” he asked.
