Kendrapada: Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested Raghunath Das, headmaster of Chadeiguan high school at Chadeiguan village in Kendrapada district’s Mahakalapada block for accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe from a night watchman of the same school to help him get his arrear salary.The newly-appointed night watchman, Khirod Das, had not received salary since his joining in Aug 2025. He had been requesting the accused headmaster for a long time to furnish the attendance sheet to the DDO ( Drawing and Disbursing Officer) in the office of district education officer (DEO), Kendrapada, to draw his salary.But, the accused headmaster demanded the bribe. Irked, the night watchman alerted the vigilance authorities. Upon receiving the information, a team of Odisha vigilance on Monday nabbed the headmaster while he was taking the money. The entire bribe amount was recovered from the accused.
