Chennai: Madras high court has reserved its order on a plea moved by former DMK minister E V Velu seeking to quash a case registered against him in connection with alleged irregularities in allocating Rs 3.23 crore under the Integrated Road Infrastructure Development Project for improvement of roads across the state.Concluding the final hearing, Justice V Lakshminarayanan reserved his orders on Thursday. The issue pertains to a complaint lodged by Arappor Iyakkam alleging that funds were released to private companies under the scheme despite road works not being carried out, resulting in financial irregularities.Based on the complaint, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) registered a case against the former minister, officials of the highways department and contractors in connection with the alleged irregularities.Aggrieved, Velu moved the present petition seeking to quash the criminal case pending against him.
