Hyderabad: Justice K Sujana of Telangana high court on Wednesday quashed five criminal cases pending against chief minister A Revanth Reddy. The cases, registered in 2019, pertained to alleged violations of the model code of conduct (MCC) during the Huzurnagar bye‑elections, when Revanth was MP from Malkajgiri and campaigned for the Congress candidate. Several senior Congress leaders were also named accused.According to police, Revanth and other Congress leaders held roadshows that blocked traffic and inconvenienced the public. It was alleged that DJ music systems were used at high volume during meetings, speeches exceeded the Election Commission’s prescribed time limit, and more than 10,000 party workers attended—far above the permitted strength.Authorities further alleged that a large fleet of cars and bikes was deployed for canvassing, violating the numbers allowed under MCC guidelines.
