Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court on Thursday gave relief to UP cabinet minister Suresh Khanna and dismissed a criminal revision challenging an order of a Mathura court that had rejected an application seeking registration of an FIR against Khanna.It held that the trial court had committed no error in rejecting the petitioners’ application and that the matter did not warrant interference by the HC in the exercise of its revisional jurisdiction. Accordingly, the court held that the criminal revision lacked merit and dismissed it.The judgment was passed by Justice Vikram D Chauhan while dismissing the revision petition filed by Sanatan Dharma Rakshapeeth and second petitioner Kaushal Kishore Thakurji Maharaj.The petitioner alleged that Khanna, by using his power as cabinet minister, had interfered in an investigation against a person accused of grabbing his property.Sanatan Dharma Rakshapeeth alleged that Mathura resident Nirvikar Singhal was instrumental in recording the name of his father in the disputed property, which belongs to the petitioner. The chargesheet has been submitted against the accused, and he has been summoned by the court concerned.It was alleged that Khanna had on July 16, 2024, instructed the additional chief secretary, Home, UP, to take necessary action on the application of Sulbha Singhal, wife of the accused. The petitioner alleged that the minister’s letter amounted to interference in the investigation. Hence, he moved an application before the Mathura court, requesting it to direct an FIR against Khanna.The MP-MLA court in Mathura rejected the application on June 6, 2025, on the ground of jurisdiction. Hence, the petitioner moved the present criminal revision before the high court.
