Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Friday dismissed a PIL seeking to conduct Durga Puja on the HC’s roof, observing that it was not a matter of ‘public interest’. The division bench of Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge and Justice Om Narayan Rai held the PIL interested certain people. Lawyer Sanjay Ghosh had filed the PIL. He argued that the Indian Constitution gives people of all religions equal right to practice their religion while maintaining religious neutrality. But he claimed the same is not maintained at HC as people from certain religions are allowed to pray on the roof. So he sought permission for ‘Bharat Mata Temple’ and Durga Puja.
