Lucknow: State govt has invited PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Jewar International Airport , Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Wednesday, describing the project as a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure-led growth. Sources said that March 28 is the proposed date given to the PM for the inauguration. Speaking at the release of the book Nav Nirman ke 9 Varsh, the Chief Minister said the Jewar airport, the state’s fifth international airport, is ready for operations and will be the largest airport in the country. He said the facility is expected to significantly boost economic activity and generate nearly Rs 1 lakh crore in revenue for the state government over time.The CM said the airport reflects the broader transformation of UP into an infrastructure-driven state. He noted that the state now has 16 operational airports, including four international ones, and that air connectivity has expanded rapidly over the past nine years. According to him, improved connectivity is playing a key role in attracting investment and supporting industrial growth.Highlighting other infrastructure achievements, the CM said UP has the largest railway network in India, metro services in seven cities, and the country’s first Rapid Rail corridor between Meerut and Delhi. He also cited ongoing projects such as India’s first ropeway in Varanasi and the inland waterway connecting Varanasi to Haldia.On road infrastructure, Yogi said 55% of India’s expressways are currently in UP, a share that will rise to 60% with the completion of the Ganga Expressway later this month. He added that all district headquarters were now connected by four-lane roads, strengthening intra-state connectivity.The CM said improved infrastructure and governance reforms have helped UP emerge as a preferred investment destination. He noted that recent visits by state delegations to Japan, Singapore and Germany have resulted in fresh investment interest, with investors citing the state’s zero-tolerance approach to corruption.
