NEW DELHI: The couple arrested in connection with the alleged murder of 31-year-old Adani Realty executive Yuvraj Singh Manchanda had faced cases before, with police saying the woman had two cheating cases registered against her and her partner had been named in a domestic violence case.Anya Vats has two cheating cases registered against her, police said. One was registered at Parliament Street police station, where she is accused of allegedly cheating by posing as a govt official, while another case was registered in Greater NoidaA domestic violence case was registered against Sanyam Sachdeva by his wife, officers said. Sachdeva is still married to his wife, while he and Vats have a child together. Both Vats and Sachdeva have been sent to five days’ police custody in connection with the murder.Police are also probing whether Yuvraj’s body was kept inside a car for two days after his alleged murder before it was dumped in a Gurugram drain.
Changing accounts over body
Sources said Vats and Sachdeva initially told investigators that they kept Yuvraj’s body inside their vehicle for around seven hours.Their statements later changed, prompting police to verify the timeline and establish what happened between the alleged murder and the disposal of the body.Investigators are probing whether the body remained inside the car for around two days.Yuvraj, Vats and Sachdeva had worked together at the same firm between 2019 and 2022. Yuvraj later moved to another job, while Vats was allegedly removed from the company over financial irregularities, according to investigators.Vats and Sachdeva subsequently worked as freelancers and became involved in property dealings. Police are probing whether a dispute over clients and real estate transactions contributed to the alleged confrontation and subsequent murder.
Wedding weeks away
Yuvraj’s wedding was reportedly just weeks away. A sherwani had been finalised and he had promised to return home after a meeting.He was later found dead in a drain in Gurugram.Police are now investigating the sequence of events leading to his death, including the circumstances in which his body was allegedly kept inside the vehicle and later disposed of.
