Hassan/ Madikeri: Bomb threat emails to the district & sessions courts in Hassan and Madikeri Saturday triggered panic, prompting security sweeps that later found no explosives.In Hassan, a bomb-threat email to the district and sessions court in Channapatna layout prompted heightened security measures. In charge, chief administrative officer D Vasantha filed a complaint with Hassan Town Police.According to the complaint, the court received the threatening mail at 4.51am. The email claimed that nine ‘silicon-dynamite’ bombs were placed in three record rooms and two e-seva centres of the court and would explode at 2.20pm. It also asked judges to be evacuated before the blast, according to the complaint.The message sparked fear in the court premises. As judges, lawyers, staff and litigants visit in large numbers daily, officials called in the bomb disposal squad for a sweep.The complaint sought that the sender be traced and legal action initiated, and adequate security be provided to the court.SP Shubhanwitha said security personnel followed all protocols, and nothing of an explosive nature was found. “We are conducting an investigation into where the email originated,” she said.Hassan Town police registered a case and are investigating.The district and sessions Court in Madikeri received a bomb threat email for the third time this year.The first threat was received on Feb 16, the second on June 23, and the third on Saturday, June 2KV School recieves threatA bomb threat was also received at Kodagu Central High School on Saturday, prompting students to be evacuated while the premises were searched before classes resumed.The court received a threat at 9.55pm on Friday, warning that it would be blown up on Saturday during the afternoon hours. Police rushed to the court complex and conducted a complete inspection with the help of a dog squad and bomb disposal squad. No suspicious material or explosive device was found during the inspection, proving it was a hoax threat.Police also inspected the central high school with a dog squad, but found no clues. When contacted, SP Bindumani said, “We are investigating to find out the source of the threat.”
