Hassan: The installation ceremony of newly appointed Hassan district Congress president GB Shashidhar was disrupted on Friday after supporters of Hassan MP Shreyas Patel expressed displeasure over the omission of his name during the programme. The event was held at District Congress Office on BM Road in Hassan, in the presence of district minister KM Shivalingegowda and several Congress leaders.Upset over the omission, Patel’s supporters insisted that the programme should not be inaugurated until the MP arrived at the event. The minister attempted to pacify the protesting supporters, but they continued to obstruct the proceedings.Addressing the agitated workers, the minister said, “Have you all come here to create a disturbance? I have seen many such incidents. Please sit quietly. Go and bring Shreyas Patel here. We will inaugurate the programme after that.”The minister subsequently launched the event amid continued dissatisfaction among the workers, leading to tension.
