Gurgaon: In a significant move to streamline sports administration and enhance athlete participation, the Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) has announced that the state games will now be held every year from Nov 1 to Nov 15, with a complete restriction on organising any other sports competitions during this period. The decision was taken during a general body meeting to ensure that athletes across the state can participate without scheduling conflicts and give their full attention to the flagship event.Officials said that competitions across various disciplines will be included, with venues to be identified and finalised well in advance. Additionally, all district-level competitions will be conducted ahead of time, and only selected players will compete in the state games. To ensure transparency and credibility, the association has also decided that players’ documents will be thoroughly verified at the time of registration. The meeting further resolved that certificates awarded to medal winners in the state games will hold significance in govt job recruitment, in line with existing sports policies.Several committees — technical management, finance, discipline and publicity — have been constituted for the smooth conduct of the games. The association also approved new regulations for membership fees and infrastructure development to raise the overall quality of the event. Additionally, steps are being taken to align Haryana’s sports framework with national policies, including incorporating elements of the National Sports Code.
