CHANDIGARH: Haryana Congress affairs in-charge Sanjay Dutt and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narender Singh on Saturday attended Block Congress Committee conventions in Rewari and Meham in Rohtak, where they interacted with party workers and called for strengthening the organisation down to the booth level.Sanjay Dutt said grassroots workers are the backbone of Congress and must remain in constant touch with the people. He said the party will take forward the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign to strongly raise students’ concerns related to education, employment, fees, scholarships and campus facilities. He urged workers to identify local issues and raise them effectively through the party platform.Rao Narender Singh said farmers across Haryana are facing serious challenges related to crops, rising input costs, irrigation, remunerative prices and procurement. He demanded that the state government immediately streamline paddy and millet procurement in mandis by ensuring sufficient gunny bags, proper procurement centres, lifting arrangements and timely payments. He said farmers must not be forced to struggle to sell their produce at MSP.He also expressed concern over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in Haryana, saying rising crime has created fear among ordinary citizens. He said the government must establish an effective and accountable policing system, while Congress workers must take these issues to the people with determination.At the Rewari convention, Congress Working Committee permanent member and MP Deepender Singh Hooda said the organisation draws strength from workers’ hard work and public engagement. He said he has consistently raised issues concerning Rewari and Haryana in Parliament, including employment, farmers’ interests and development.AICC secretary and former MLA Chiranjiv Rao said Congress has always stood with farmers, labourers, youth, weaker sections and the common people. He said he would continue to work for Rewari’s development and the dignity of party workers.Addressing the Meham convention, former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda urged workers to reach every village and booth, maintain direct dialogue with citizens and raise public concerns forcefully.The Rewari convention was chaired by Praveen Chaudhary and organised by Anil Yadav. The Meham convention was chaired by Balwan Singh Ranga and organised by Suresh Chandra. Former MLA Anand Singh Dangi, MLA Balram Dangi and several senior leaders, office-bearers and workers attended.
