Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday directed departments concerned to complete road construction, widening and repair works within set timelines, stressing that safe and smooth mobility was the govt’s top priority.Chairing a review meeting on 2025-26 road projects at Haryana Niwas, Saini told senior officers from 10 departments and agencies not to compromise on quality or pace of execution. Officials from the public works department, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, panchayati raj, FMDA, GMDA, SMDA, PMDA, HSVP, HSIIDC and urban local bodies attended the meeting. The CM reviewed the functioning of the ‘Hamari Sadak’ mobile app and instructed officers to treat complaints related to potholes and damaged roads as priority cases. He said repair reports must be uploaded on the app.Saini also asked the PWD and other agencies to carry out mapping of all roads in Haryana to create an accurate record of their condition, ownership and maintenance requirements, which would help departments monitor work efficiently.Taking a tough line on delayed projects, the CM said contractors who fail to complete work within the stipulated time and compromise on prescribed quality standards would be penalised. The CM directed officials to prepare a comprehensive list of all road projects delayed or affected due to railway-related issues. The list will be used for close coordination with railway authorities to clear bottlenecks and speed up construction.Saini also underlined the need to improve road infrastructure in industrial areas, saying high-quality roads would ease movement for entrepreneurs and traders and help attract fresh investment and generate employment in Haryana.Reviewing the availability of road construction material, the CM said projects should not be stalled because of delays in bitumen supply. In such cases, departments should shift to cement concrete technology and continue construction, he said.
