Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday assured Swedish furniture giant IKEA of full govt support for its existing and future investments in the state, as the company reiterated its plans to expand its footprint in Haryana and praised the state’s investor-friendly ecosystem.The assurance came during a meeting between the chief minister and a high-level IKEA delegation led by IKEA India CEO Patrik Antoni at CM’s camp office here. The discussions centred on strengthening collaboration between the state govt and the company while exploring fresh investment opportunities.Antoni thanked the state govt for facilitating the timely execution of IKEA’s projects, particularly through speedy approvals and administrative support from the Chief Minister’s Office, the department of foreign cooperation and other departments. He said Haryana’s progressive policies, proactive governance and industry-friendly environment had created favourable conditions for global investors.During the meeting, Antoni invited the CM to inaugurate IKEA’s Gurugram store after its completion next year. Saini expressed confidence that the project would further strengthen Haryana’s position as a preferred destination for global investments.IKEA is investing around Rs 3,500 crore in its flagship Gurugram project, spread across nearly 10 acres. The integrated development will house a retail store, office spaces and community-focused facilities under one roof and is expected to generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.The state govt is also working with the company to ensure the availability of a skilled workforce through its skill development ecosystem so that local youth can benefit from the jobs created by the project.The foundation stone of the Gurugram store was laid by former Haryana chief minister and Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
