Gurugram: The Haryana Legislative Assembly has passed the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, paving the way for the establishment of Masters’ Union University in Gurugram.
The move will give Gurugram-based Masters’ Union university status and allow it to offer programmes across a wider range of disciplines. The institution, which began operations in 2020, currently offers programmes in management, technology and engineering, along with family business and executive education.
Masters’ Union said the proposed university will build on its existing practitioner-led approach to education, in which entrepreneurs, corporate executives, investors and technology professionals are involved in teaching and student projects.
The institution’s founder, Pratham Mittal, said the university status would allow Masters’ Union to expand its academic offerings and extend its existing approach to other disciplines.
The proposed university will operate from approximately 5.14 acres of contiguous land in Gurugram. The site has around 1.07 lakh square feet of existing built-up area, including approximately 96,600 square feet of instructional space.
According to the institution, the planned campus infrastructure will include spaces for venture building and incubation, maker and analytics laboratories, student residences, cultural and sporting facilities, and research infrastructure.
Student ventures and placements
Masters’ Union said more than 80 student startups have been supported through its Venture Initiation Programme and other entrepreneurship initiatives since its establishment.
The institution said 10 startups incubated through the Venture Initiation Programme have collectively raised more than Rs 65 crore and reported combined annual revenue of Rs 320 crore in FY25. Among the investors in student ventures are IIFL Wealth, Avaana Capital, Chimera, 100X.VC, Lumikai and Big Bets.
Most recently, Meta Fashion, a student-founded digital fashion startup focused on virtual fashion for gaming platforms, raised around USD 400,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Lumikai.
Masters’ Union also reported an average annual compensation of Rs 34.07 lakh in its latest placement cycle. The institution said four offers exceeded Rs 1 crore, with the highest package reported at Rs 1.28 crore.
It also reported 30 international offers across the US, Canada, UAE and Saudi Arabia, with an average compensation of Rs 64 lakh. The placement figures were audited by B2K Analytics, formerly known as Brickwork Analytics.
The institution currently has more than 3,000 students across its programmes.
The passage of the amendment Bill marks the next stage in Masters’ Union’s expansion from an institution focused primarily on business education to a private university. The extent and timeline of its new multidisciplinary academic offerings will depend on the university’s regulatory approvals and subsequent programme development.
